Activities & Attractions

One of the biggest reasons people live and vacation in the heart of the Rocky Mountains is we have one of the biggest attractions in the world- The Rocky Mountains!

I have lived here for 20 years and am still amazed at the immense beauty of the mountains. On a recent road trip, (road trips around here mean you move from place to place to see even more majestic mountains) I still am struck by the differences in the Rockies from place to place and how their own individual characteristics make them beautiful. I have taken a 1000 pictures of them and I just took 1000 more!

My suggestion is to visit the rockies in the summer and you will go away wanting more. One of the biggest reasons locals stay here in our ski towns is the summer. It’s cherry on top the sundae or the whip cream in your coco or the full bottle of red wine instead of a glass. It’s the season to seal your decision to stay or keep coming back to Colorado.

Of course there are other attractions to keep every member of your family happy. Colorado is filled with hot springs, mines, rivers, reservoirs, golf courses and history, unique to this paradise.

Tough decisions for you and your family on what and where to go for Summer in the Rocky Mountains

Should you go rafting on the Eagle or Colorado River in the Vail Valley? What about fly fishing on the Colorado River or hiking along the trails above? Do you need to just sit, read and relax, maybe enjoy the spa?

Would it surprise you to know we have a number of incredible golf courses in the Vail area? Two courses I like for their beauty and pricing is the Vail Golf Course or Gypsum Creek Golf Course. Does your family like to take the active approach to vacations, try Adventure Ridge on Vail Mountain or the Leadville Train in Leadville, a 30 minute gorgeous drive from Vail along one of the highest roads in the country plus it gives you the perfect view of Mount Holy Cross. See if you have spot the cross! Check here for coupons!

Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is a crazy fun time for the family and is a short drive through the Glenwood Canyon to Glenwood Springs. Check here for a coupons

Ziplines are literally making their way all along the mountain valleys from Denver to Glenwood Canyon.

Kids wanna go to summer camp here is a listing of some of the top camps?

I’ve had the opportunity to participate in all these activities- it’s only fair- since I live here. I can recommend trying them all. Rafting is awesome in the spring when the river is higher. Hiking allows you to intertwine with nature, bring a picnic on your hike. Sitting and relaxing is easy, there’s always a great view.

The weather doesn’t always cooperate but indoor activities are the cure for that! There is always available fun in the Vail Valley in the summers including occupying your time inside. We have interesting history museums, movie theaters, recreation centers and art centers.

So you can see why Colorado is special in the summer as it is in the winter. Check out all the activities as you discover what’s on our website and make sure you look in the coupon section for deals and discounts.
